Service Introduction
Objective
To help youngsters get rid of substance abuse, to minimize the harms of drugs to the body and mind, and to help them lead healthy life and reintegrate into society.
Service Target
- For young male substance abusers under 35years old who choose to stay one week to one year.
- For opiate or other substance abusers.
- Applicants must go through assessment by doctor and/or psychiatrist to ensure they are physically fit and mental stable for treatment.
- Applicants have to follow the regulations of the centre and sign service contract.
Service and Application
Residential Treatment and Rehabilitation Programmes
- Detoxification Stage (lasting around one week)
Our visiting psychiatrist makes thorough examination and prescribes drugs to help clients go through the detoxification period and to alleviate the symptoms; the nursing staff members provide care to make clients more comfortable, social workers and peer counsellors help clients adjust.
- Rehabilitation Stage (starting from the second week)
The boys take the following activities to facilitate their rehabilitation:
- Individual counselling, two series of groups: Relapse Prevention and Self Understanding run by social workers;
- Educational Courses such as language, computer by teachers;
- Interest and hobby classes like guitar, football, physical fitness, volunteer services etc.
- Rating System: to encourage the boys to learn actively in the centre, a score is given to reflect their performance in different activities. If the average rating fails to meet the required standard, the boy cannot extend the stay at the end of the month.

Aftercare Service
Boys who have completed our rehabilitation stage are offered aftercare service so as to help them stay away from illicit drugs.
- Our social workers will provide 12 month follow up service which include urine test.
- Parents get supportive service from Lok Heep Club.
- If the boys think fit, he can be referred to have longer training at another treatment and rehabilitation centre.
Other Supportive Programme
- Bi-Weekly visit session for family members to involve in the rehabilitation.
- Volunteers coming to centre to run interest classes and recreational activities.
- Vitamin C 2.0 supported by Beat Drugs Fund (BDF), helps the young drug rehabilitees to enhance the 3Cs: Competence, Connection and Contribution to society.
- Diploma of Applied Education (previously known as the Diploma Yi Jin) is organized in the centre and taught by qualified teacher. This can help drug rehabilitees to gain knowledge, skill and to get change in attitude. This also can encourage them to reintegrate into society by working or further studies in the future.

- Client who have difficulties in paying are referred to apply for CSSA.
